JDM to USDM Installation & Swap Guide

To ensure 100% compatibility and a seamless integration with your Corollas high-tech ECU, professional technicians recommend the following “External Swap” steps:

  1. Transmission Sensors: Transfer your original USDM Input, Output, and Speed Sensors to the JDM unit. This ensures the electrical signals perfectly match your North American wiring harness.

  2. External Harness: Always retain and use your original USDM Transmission Wiring Harness. JDM harnesses may have variations in plug orientation or length based on right-hand drive configurations.

  3. Neutral Safety Switch: Transfer your original USDM Range Sensor (Neutral Safety Switch) to ensure the shifter gate and dash indicators remain 100% accurate.

  4. Fluid Requirement: You must use Toyota Genuine CVTF-FE fluid. The K120 Direct Shift CVT is highly sensitive to fluid viscosity; using non-genuine or generic CVT fluid can lead to launch gear engagement issues.

  5. Oil Cooler & Lines: Inspect the JDM cooler ports. If the bracket offsets differ, swap your original USDM Transmission Fluid Cooler and lines to the JDM unit.

  6. ECU Learning: After installation, a “CVT Fluid Pressure Calibration” and “G-Sensor Zero Point Learning” must be performed with a professional-grade scan tool to ensure the launch gear transitions smoothly.
