The C59 5-speed is a mechanical, “plug-and-play” unit. However, to ensure a perfect fit into your USDM Matrix, follow these professional installation steps:
Speedometer Sensor: Inspect the speedometer sensor/plug on the JDM unit. If the electrical connector differs from your USDM harness, simply unscrew and swap your original USDM Speed Sensor into the JDM case.
Shifter Cable Brackets: Some JDM units may have slightly different cable bracket angles. We recommend transferring your original USDM Shifter Cable Brackets to the JDM unit to ensure your shift linkage reaches and aligns perfectly.
Reverse Light Switch: Swap your original USDM Reverse Light Switch to the JDM transmission to ensure your reverse lights function correctly with your factory wiring.
Clutch & Flywheel: While the transmission is out, it is the best time to install a new Clutch Kit and Throw-out Bearing. It is far more cost-effective to replace these wear items now than to pull the transmission again later.
Axle Seals: For maximum longevity, install new OEM CV Axle Seals before installing the transmission to prevent any potential fluid leaks at the differential.
