After yearsspent testing and developing in the wind tunnel and on the open road (andthe subsequent launch of our 48 Limitless Aero Disc wheelset),HUNT is proud to introducethe 34 Aero Wide Disc – the world’s fastest alloy disc-brake wheel.
Wind tunnel proven against world leading wheels. See the 34AWD test reportfor full technical details of our wind tunnel testing methodology, including data/graphs and the full range of wheels we tested against.
Designed by HUNT’s in-house engineering team.
Everything we learned when pushing what is aerodynamically possible with a carbon disc-brake wheelset, has been applied to an alloy model that embodies the same philosophy: be the absolute fastest drop-bar wheel.
ALLOY? IN A WIND TUNNEL?
Until now, aerodynamic development has lagged behind on alloy wheels. So much so, that after having invested our time and knowledge into the 34 Aero Wide Disc, it is faster than a (carbon) Zipp 202 NSW when paired with a 28c tyre. The assumption that carbon is inherently faster is untrue, and now tangible aerodynamic performance has been made accessible for all.

WIDER TYRES & WIDER WHEELS | RIDE FASTER
Leading rim-brake wheels have been at the 27-28mm wide mark for some time, with undisputed aero benefits over narrower designs. However, they are aerodynamically limited by rim brake calipers limiting the maximum width of the brake track. Further, most are optimised for narrower tyres. 23mm tyres used to be the standard but for us, you and most pro riders, 25/28 and even 30mm tyres are the preferred choice. Lets face it: when leaning in on the final turn of a mass bunch sprint or descending sweeping alpine bends, you want serious grip! Plus, the lower rolling resistance benefits of 25 and 28mm tyres* mean that road disc aero wheels should be specifically designed around these wider tyres. Accordingly, this wheel has been designed using schematics and feedback from Schwalbe’s own engineers.
(*Especially rider-system benefits, wheel & tyre only tests do not include rider damped losses, and how lower pressures reduce these losses by reducing rider movement. This is a whole other area we will be releasing scientific data on.)
THE RESULTS
The wind tunnel data we recorded is shown against the full range of incumbent world-class aero wheels in the charts below. The results speak for themselves. Its been hard work but its been very worthwhile. This process and the knowledge gained from pushing the boundaries of aero wheel development creates huge opportunities to serve you with a wide range of world leading aerodynamic wheelsthis is just the beginning! Thank you.

A full 3 years from purchase date warranty is offered to the original purchaser only on all Hunt bike wheels against material or workmanshipdefects, please click here to read full details.
All HUNT wheels models have to pass our harsh cobbled-rolling-road testsfor rider weight limits, please see here for more details.100kgsis the upper recommended rider weight limit for these wheels.Pleaseinclude the weight of any luggage in your total rider weight when choosing the correct wheels. If a rider is over90kgsthen an experienced bike mechanic should check the wheel regularly and it is advisable to usetyres at max 90psias this will reduce the fatigue on the wheel. We are cyclists ourselves and do of course go above and beyond to offer excellent service if you ever do experience any issues. We carry full spares at very reasonable prices and offer complete support.
60 Day Ride & Return Period. We are certain you’ll be impressed by the acceleration, low-weight, speed and durability of our wheels. We are cyclists and as such strive to offer class leading service and support. Buy with confidence, if for any reason you wish to return the wheels for a full refund of your order you can do so up to a full 60 days after you receive them whether they have been ridden or not. Please note we cannot offerrefunds on wheels that have suffered from crash damage but do offer a crash replacement discount.
