Vehicle Fitment

This transmission serves as a direct replacement or performance upgrade for the following North American models:

  • Honda Prelude VTEC: 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996 (Direct Replacement)

  • Honda Prelude Si (H23A1): 19921996 (Significant Gearing Upgrade)

  • Honda Accord: 19902002 (Popular H-Series Swap Transmission)

  • Compatibility Note: As a Non-LSD unit, this uses standard 36mm axles. If you are swapping this into a vehicle that previously had an LSD transmission (like the M2B4), you will need to ensure your axle inner-stubs match the open differential splines.

JDM to USDM Installation & Technical Guide

To ensure a seamless installation and long-term durability, professional technicians recommend the following steps:

  1. Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS): Transfer your original USDM VSS if your speedometer calibration differs. The JDM unit is physically compatible, but using your original sensor ensures 100% accuracy with your factory cluster.

  2. Clutch & Flywheel: While the transmission is out, we strongly recommend installing a new clutch disc, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing. Use a lightweight flywheel to further enhance the H22As rev-happy nature.

  3. Transmission Fluid: Use only Genuine Honda Manual Transmission Fluid (MTF). These older Honda synchros are sensitive to sulfur additives found in many generic gear oils, which can lead to premature “notchy” shifting.

  4. Shifter Cables: Ensure your shifter cables and bushings are in good condition. Upgrading to solid shifter bushings during this install will drastically improve the “mechanical feel” of the M2V5.

  5. Axle Seals: While the unit is on the bench, we recommend installing new OEM axle seals to prevent leaks and protect your fresh MTF.
