Grade B – decent repair
Regrettably, the speedometers for many older Vespa models are no longer in production. To compensate for this deficit sip are having them reproduced under the ‘SIP Spareparts’ banner.
Like so many parts from the earlier vespa models with the headlamp on the front mudguard (Faro Basso), the originalspeedometerunit is no longer available for neither love nor money. So they decided to source them thereselves and were successful. Many versions are available in differing colours and kilometre scale. All versions are decorated with a chromed mounting ring.
Some of them got from us a 2,7mm connection for the speedometer cable. This calbe is stronger and more reliable than the original 1,9mm one. Please take care when ordering a new cable and new drive cog.
Technical Tip:If you require the look of the original PIAGGIO speedometer face this can be done cheaply by a number of professional firms, but due to the simplicity of the task can be quite easily achieved in a DIY manner.
