The fastest rim-brake wheels we’ve ever made, using ‘Aerodynamicist’ profiles as first used on our Limitless range. Ready to fly past the competition, whether road races, time trials or triathlons. We’ve been able to take the principles found during the Limitless research project (widening profiles below the edge of the rim to improve performance and stability across multiple yaw angles), and apply these to rims that make the absolute most of the space offered inside a conventional caliper brake.
Wind tunnel proven against world-leading wheels. See the research white paper for full technical details of our wind tunnel testing methodology, including data/graphs and the full range of wheels we tested against.
Designed by HUNT’s in-house engineering team.
Fitted with CeramicSpeed’s world-renowned low-friction bearings.

KEY DESIGN PARAMETERS
We knew we had to work within the confines of conventional caliper brakes, and so designed around a 19mm internal rim width optimised for a 25c tyre (but will of course work without compromise with both 23c and 28c tyres). Naturally, as with all of our rims, they feature a hooked tyre retention design for safety and are both fully ETRTO-compatible and tubeless-ready.
RIM PROFILE DESIGNS
As learned from our Limitless Research project & from consistent wind tunnel time across the past 2 years, we know that an optimum aerodynamic benefit for a drop-bar bike is yielded from widening rim profiles. The reasons for this is that it allows for a far more ‘blunted’ spoke bed area, which (depending on which part of the wheel you’re looking at) is both the leading and trailing edge. The benefits of blunted spoke bed areas revolve primarily around the predictable airflow, with the wind ‘hugging’ the rim as it passes across it (as opposed to older style V-shaped rims, which would create turbulence in the form of stalls). The wider profile ensures the flow stays attached to the surface as long as possible before the point of separation, which is key as yaw angles increase.
TESTING & RESULTS
We conducted our testing in much the same manner as was performed for the 48 Limitless Aero Disc (See full research white paper on the rim-brake Aerodynamicist range here), however using CFD we were able to ascertain which prototype profiles were fastest before we headed over to the tunnel. Accordingly, we took a single final prototype shape of each depth to the wind tunnel (compared to the 5 and then 3 for the Limitless project). We tested against top competitors from across the world, using Continental’s GP5000 as the control tyre for all tests. Yaw angles were 20 degrees.
As was expected, we have designed 3 rim profiles that offer exceptionally competitive aerodynamic performance, with the 82 coming in as the very fastest. The 52 and 62 are both incredibly competitive, in an area of bicycle aerodynamics that has been hotly contested and innovated within for over 15 years. As with previous testing, we have calculated positions based on Mavic’s own WAD (Wind Average Drag) power distribution. Read Less

A full 3 years (6 years on CeramicSpeedbearings)from purchase date warranty is offered to the original purchaser only on all Hunt bike wheels against material or workmanshipdefects, please click here to read full details.
All HUNT wheels models have to pass our harsh cobbled-rolling-road testsfor rider weight limits, please see here for more details.109kgis the upper recommended rider weight limit for these wheels.Pleaseinclude the weight of any luggage in your total rider weight when choosing the correct wheels. If a rider is over90kgthen an experienced bike mechanic should check the wheel regularly and it is advisable to usetyres at max 95psias this will reduce the fatigue on the wheelset. We are cyclists ourselves and do of course go above and beyond to offer excellent service if you ever do experience any issues. We carry full spares at very reasonable prices and offer complete support.
60 Day Ride & Return Period. We are certain you’ll be impressed by the acceleration, low-weight, speed and durability of our wheels. We are cyclists and as such strive to offer class leading service and support. Buy with confidence, if for any reason you wish to return the wheels for a full refund of your order you can do so up to a full 60 days after you receive them whether they have been ridden or not.
NOTE: We are not able to control other brands brake pad compounds and we cannot test every possible brake pad so please use only our HUNT Brakco Griptec carbon specific rim brake pads with these wheels. Two pairs of pads are included with your wheels and further sets can be ordered from here. We chose the Brakco Griptec pads because they outperform a lot of the market leaders best selling compounds in both dry and wet laboratory conditions.
We can supply or fit tubeless tyres (including sealant) to your wheels which are also designed to work excellently with clincher tyres and tubes.
Maximum tyre pressure for this rim is 100psi when used with 25-28mm tyres. Maximum tire pressures for other tyre sizes: 30mm – 32mm do not exceed 70psi, 33mm do not exceed 50psi, 35-45mm do not exceed 45psi, 45-50mm do not exceed 40psi. 100psi is more than enough for any rider on road. Please do not exceed the maximum pressure stated on your tyre. Click here to listen to a podcast exploring the science of why lower pressures were found to be faster by pro teams.
Schwalbe Pro One Tubeless Tyres – 25, 28 or 30mmThe Schwalbe Tubeless road tyres consistently win plaudits from journalists and customers alike. We have been testing them for a long time and have been very impressed. The One Pro’s are Schwalbe’s top of the range tyres and feature their triple compound tread so you get extremely low rolling-resistance combined with excellent grip and durability. |
