This engine is a direct long-block replacement for the following North American models:
Toyota Corolla (Base, LE, S): 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015
Compatibility Note: This is the standard gasoline version. It is NOT compatible with the 2.4L Corolla XRS or the 1.8L Prius Hybrid (2ZR-FXE).
To ensure 100% compatibility and maintain your Corollas emissions and drivability, professional technicians recommend the following “External Swap” steps:
Intake & Exhaust Manifolds: You must transfer your original USDM Intake Manifold and Exhaust Manifold. JDM versions may have different vacuum port layouts and often lack specific emissions sensors (like the secondary air injection system) required for North American OBDII compliance.
Wiring Harness: Always retain and use your original USDM Engine Wiring Harness. JDM harnesses are configured for right-hand drive and will not interface with your Corollas chassis bulkheads or ECU.
Engine Sensors: Transfer your original USDM Camshaft and Crankshaft Sensors. Toyota electronics are highly sensitive; using your original “known-good” sensors prevents intermittent signal issues or Check Engine Light codes.
Water Housing & Pump: Transfer your original USDM water housing to ensure the coolant temp sensors and hose locations match your factory cooling system perfectly.
Flywheel / Flexplate: Use your original USDM Corolla Flexplate (for automatics) to ensure perfect alignment with your factory torque converter.
